Quill is a sensitive and delicate drawing of a beautiful Norfolk goose feather.
Whilst on a stroll at Bale, near our home in North Norfolk, we came across a gaggle of geese loudly honking as they waddled to their pond. In their wake was a cluster of feathers deposited for our natural history treasure chest. This feather particularly appealed with its strong graphic qualities and black and white hues.
Using a magnifying glass and a pen, a giant version of the feather emerged on the paper.
The contemporary format of Quill, with its emphasis on the vertical, makes it ideal for hanging in those narrow awkward spaces where pictures with the usual dimensions are too wide.

Multi-award winning artist Jac Scott, a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, approaches drawing in a similar vein to that of the traditional building process of creating a sculpture. The rhythm of multiple marks both build and extract until a form evolves from the ground. Her technique is paradoxically quick in hand movement yet slow to build.
