Grand Antique (circa 1800s) Silver-Plated, Dan Holy & Parker Co. Samovar Table Lamp - Grace 400

Exceptional antique samovar made by renowned Sheffield silversmiths Dan Holy & Parker Co. around 1800. A heavy, beautifully made piece: the vessel has a pedestal base with 4 lion paw feet and lion head handles plus an engraved crest on the front.

Traditionally, samovars were used to carry hot water to the table for pouring into a teacup.

The lamp has been created using: coordinating chrome fittings, E27 lamp holder, around 2 metres of silver retro-style twisted fabric cable, an inline switch and a white plug. The cable exits discreetly from the base of the body.

The lamp is shown here with one of our grey coolie shades with silver lining and an antique French linen drum shade - it would look equally good with another design. Please note that the price is for the lamp only.

Dimensions:   height 54cm x width 24cm

Condition: very good. Some plate wear through to the copper in places but adds to its attractiveness in our opinion.

Utopia's Unexpected Lights

All Utopia's lights are unique and are handmade in our studios in North Norfolk from interesting antiques and finds. They each tell a narrative and enjoy close inspection to reveal strong craftsmanship and hidden layers of interest and wonder.

Creating our distinctive lights – the narrative behind the story
Reclaimed elegance – the artefacts that Utopia sources for its lights are deliciously old, usually antique, sometimes vintage, and this ‘narrative’ is reflected in their character, patina and form – Utopia celebrates the knocks, chips, and scratches of their stories. The inspired selection of the original object and the process it goes through to make it covetable is what makes our products so special. Every lamp is a one-off.

Peace of Mind
Enjoy the aesthetics of top quality heritage styling: traditional twisted fabric cable, aged metal fittings, retro-style chains and plugs, whilst having the peace of mind that your light is safe, having been completely wired/rewired by experts using modern fittings.

Due to the size and weight of this lamp we are unable to deliver it by post. Please purchase the light and kindly let us know when you will be collecting it from our gallery in Holt, Norfolk - thank you.
