Raw 462: 1860 Brass Beam Scales - Giant Rustic Chandelier
SOLD
A unique and stunning light created by Utopia from a particularly impressive set of brass beam scales made in 1860. The antique copper pans have been inverted and interestingly carry the assay measures stamps of years from 1890 to 1960. The 1860 makers mark is on the main structure whilst across the beam W & T Avery Ltd, Birmingham is engraved on one side, with capacity 56lbs and County of Warwick on the other. The British company was founded in 1818 and specialised in manufacturing weighing machines.
This striking light has been created using 2 x E27 aged brass Edison/screw lamp (bulb) holders, mid-brown twisted cable, original chains and a heavy forged hooked ceiling rose with a brass finish.
This light looks great with feature filament LEDs, that provide a great light at low cost. Please note that the price does not include the LEDs.
Condition: The antique is in great condition and now has a wax finish to preserve its patina.
Dimensions: maximum height 90cm (excluding LEDs) x width 110cm.
