A wonderful handmade piece of agricultural history used for combing the flax in the final stages before spinning the yarn to make linen - called heckling. There were usually 5 different grades of comb, often made of iron nails. In the late 1800s the process started to become mechanised with the back breaking work gradually ending except on small farms.

We fell in love with the form and patina of these old implements and think they look great hung on the wall as objet d’art.
