The ancient greeks believed that a new human soul was born every time an adult butterfly emerged from its cocoon.

A large silver-plated, worn through to copper, finial from an antique teapot has been placed with an exotic specimen butterfly found in Central America.  This miniature world is presented in a glass dome with a base created from a Victorian table central column.

The insects we use are sourced from specialist farmers determined to preserve the rainforest. The villagers work with the rainforest, rather than destroying it, by raising insects through sustainable harvesting. This provides an ethical alternative way of earning a living for the many indigenous people who want to preserve their environment. 

The butterflies are raised for a full life of around a month before becoming specimens.
