The ancient greeks believed that a new human soul was born every time an adult butterfly emerged from its cocoon.

A small old pulley block is placed with an exotic butterfly from Central America.   This miniature world is presented in a glass display dome.

The insects we use are sourced from either unwanted vintage collections or specialist farmers determined to preserve the rainforest. The villagers work with the rainforest, rather than destroying it, by raising insects through sustainable harvesting. This provides an ethical alternative way of earning a living for the many indigenous people who want to preserve their environment.

The butterflies are raised for a full life before becoming specimens.
