Roost

One of the real pleasures of living in North Norfolk is sharing the countryside with an abundance of barn owls.
The unexpected joy of a sudden flash of white crossing your path whilst driving home in the dusk, or the sudden stare as one glides by on his route to a favoured hunting ground, are such treasured moments.
It was not until Jac visited the Norfolk Wildlife Fair that she was able to study up close a live owl not in flight. At the event the Hawk & Owl Trust let her spend a long time studying a particular owl who, asleep on a perch, formed the inspiration for this drawing.

Framed in our signature style

The print has a decorative torn/deckle edge. It has been floated and framed in our signature style where a glass sandwich is created and the wall is revealed, creating a floating effect that harnesses the wall behind as a picture mount. The frame is a wide and deep moulding, with a mottled texture in brown and black, which compliments the style of the drawing.

Dimensions  height 85cm x width 66.5cm x depth 3cm

Technique

Multi-award winning artist Jac Scott, a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, approaches drawing in a similar vein to that of the traditional building process of creating a sculpture. The rhythm of multiple marks both build and extract until a form evolves from the ground. Her technique is paradoxically quick in hand movement yet slow to build.
