SOLD - Red Sail Boat on a Wave by Frances Noon
Frances Noon is fascinated by the manipulation of scale. She creates small playful vignettes of country or seaside scenes, crafted from wood, brass and copper.
In her workshop in the foothills of the Southern Pennines, she carefully makes quirky miniature animals and birds from metal to adorn her sculptures of hand-painted structures. Noon's world is one of delight and she invites us to play.
We are delighted to welcome Frances to our contemporary fold of exceptional artists

"Metal parts are made from brass and copper. Shapes are sawn and cut out from sheet metal. I also use wires of different thickness. Details are punched onto the surfaces. This means that every character will look different with their own expression. I then solder the parts together and they are finished with a coat of Rustoleum matt varnish.
I saw and sand the wooden elements. Once they are shaped I paint them with successive layers of acrylic, sanding in between to achieve the look that I want. All wooden elements are then varnished."
